Your privacy and security matter
When you create a password, we instantly check it against Have I Been Pwned? — a free service run by security expert Troy Hunt.
- What is a data breach? A data breach is when hackers gain unauthorized access to a database containing user information, often exposing passwords and selling them on the dark web.
- Why? Using a password that has been exposed in a breach puts your account at risk of being hacked.
- How? We use a secure method called k-anonymity to check your password without ever sending it in full to any server.
- What if it's been compromised? If your password has been seen in breaches, we strongly recommend choosing a different one to keep your account safe.
- Your privacy matters. We never store or log your password.
Best practice: Use a unique, long passphrase at least 12 characters long.
Using a password manager can help you generate and store these securely.
Fun fact: The password "password" has been leaked
over 46 million times and still gets used every day! 😅
